Abstract

In this article, we offer a reflection on the role and the effects of language practices in the acquisition process of the intercultural aspect in the classroom for a university student audience. From an intercultural perspective, verbal interaction requires participants to draw on knowledge that is culturally associated with the other’s universe for cultural diversity awareness. As a result, the processing of the data collected was carried out using an interactional analysis. Thus, the study revealed the relevance of language practice in the development of intercultural competence which manifests itself in the reinvestment of cultural knowledge through the image of a foreign identity.
