Abstract

The identification of meaning in literary texts needs some clues. Textual semiotics focused on the context as François Rastier called for adopting the non-linguistic context without denying the linguistic context to revive some features that make up the construction at the compositional and substitutive level. Rastier sought to reconsider the role of context versus pattern. Hence, to what extent does the context activate the implicit meaning in the text? Therefore, we adopted a descriptive and analytical approach by tracing the non-linguistic context in Rabia Jalti’s novel “Quawarir” to determine its effect on the interpretation of the textual meaning and to avoid the transfer of the concept of the linguistic context (periphery) to Rastier because the concepts are changing, we tried to adapt the concept
