From understanding the text to written production: The contribution of research in cognitive psychology

Abstract

The present paper intends to analyze mental processes underlying the writing activity of first year university students, in the French language and letters department. The question raises is to understand how non-expert writers manage declarative and procedural knowledge based on the data of cognitive psychology.
