Updates and Modernisation Potentialities in Modern Arabic poetry

Abstract

Modern Arabic poetry has witnessed various changes at both levels: the external structures of and the internal contents of the poem along together with some external factors including the change of man’s view of the surrounding world and the occurrence of some historical developments and technical changes in the poetic text as well as internal factors related to the level of renewal and the poets' desire to modernize and experiment the form and content of the modern Arabic poem. The modern Arabic poem offered poets possibilities to modernize the internal and external structure of the poem. The latter proved its ability to keep pace with the poets' concerns, encompassing their intellectual and cultural experiences and perceptions. Moreover, the modern Arabic poem demonstrated its strong presence in national and international literature. Nazik al Malaika’s poetry is an outstanding example of contemporary Arabic poetry as the poet is considered a pioneer of innovation in Arabic poems.
