The Phenomenon of Violence in the Algerian Poetic Theater

Abstract

This study deals with the "phenomenon of violence" in the Algerian poetic theater, by extrapolating models of Algerian poetic plays - most of them unpublished - belonging to different time periods. This research seeks to dissect the phenomenon of violence, by researching its forms, with a focus on two prominent types.  They are intangible/verbal violence that is elicited by the abusive and aggressive lexicon, and material/physical violence based on actual harm. Then, the research seeks to search for the causes and effects of violence and the extent of the Algerian poet's ability to highlight it dramatically and artistically, explicitly or implicitly.
