The Chronotope of Heritage in the Novel "Shiver" by Amine Zaoui A Socio-historical Approach

Abstract

The  chronotope  is  intertwined  by  the  granting  of  historical  preference  over  nature’s  time.  This  is  because  the  historical  is  a  discourse  specific  to  the  human  value  and  standard.  It  is  a  freestanding  system  rather  than  a  concession  to  a  dogmatic  system  that  works  with  it,  in  which  it  emerges  to  the  surface  as  a  game  for  ideological  references  like  the  cultural,  historical  and  religious  references,  revealing  accumulated  contradictions  in  the  human  heritage.  Amine  Zaoui  tried  to  present  them  in  his  “Shiver”  by  ruining  its  hierarchies  and  rebuilding  them  according  to  a  modernist  perspective  to  become  an  expectant  moment  in  which  the  writer  recalls  the  dynamics  of  history  and  the  forms  of  chronotope  as  well.  This  refers  him  to:  how  to  employ  the  chronotope  of  history  in  his  shiver?  How  he  achieved  the  formula  of  combining  what  is  heritage  and  miraculous  and  what  is  realistic?  Whether  it  is  possible  to  declare  the  presence  of  a  special  chronotope  for  Amine Zaoui?
