Abstract

The discourse of history and that of the novel arouse a real epistemological and artistic problematic. History is not an innocent text; it is like all other texts and has no particular privilege. It is a cultural and ideological product which is readable and interpretable; and thus encourages the novel to revise it and to regenerate a group of historical texts to deconstruct what was smoldered in the collective memory and resist history’s ready-made answers and axioms, the aim being construction of a new human consciousness of life and of the world. This is the object of this article which aims at displaying the re-assimilation of history in Benheddouga’s Tomorrow is A New Day and Amine Zaoui’s The Shiver.
