The prose poem of Jean Arthur Rimbaud

Abstract

Rimbaud’s works brought about a revolution in European theory against the poetic
models prevalent in his time, and caused critical theorizing to shift from romantic
authentics to the exploration of the limits of the metaphysical visions at the heart of
the chaosOf modernist intellectual composition. Despite his short poetic and critical
spree, he contributed significantly to a European poetry which had been drained of its
metaphysical substance. He re-thought the metaphysics of the concrete and palpable
and made us feel some unknown care hiding in the palpable itself. We may consider
Rimbaud and Charles Baudelaire, and saw that Baudelaire’s novel critical attitude
did not achieve a linguistic uniqueness incented, and totally free not only of logical
contingency, syntactic and prosodic ..shades but also of our…ready-made and timehonored
constructions and formulations
