Abstract

In this contribution, we attempt to highlight the specificity characterizing a category of Algerian students, in particular those in medical fields whose university curriculum is provided in French. In this way, the appropriation of this language indispensable for the optimisation of teaching/learning in these fields. It should be recalled that these same students followed a course of study mainly in Arabic with a meager hourly volume devoted to the French language.  Of course, the latter is a foreign language with which they have become accustomed, conveying general notions that do not necessarily generate a direct link with the medical sciences. However, at the University, they find themselves unable to adequately address their discipline through their new language. Thus, these problems, of various levels, are serious enough to provoke our reflection and guide us to the prospection of a medium uniting French language and medical sciences best adapted to the students of first year medicine of the university of Bechar.
