Abstract

This research aims to study the issues of content and form in the poetry of the jurist Ibn Batall al-Andalusi, defining him and bringing him from the veil of obscurity to the realm of existence, and answering important questions, most notably: Does the strict engagement in jurisprudence prevent the poet/jurist from expressing the musings of the soul and tender emotions? In addition, does it confine poetry to religious themes, or can it explore other horizons? Will his juristic mind and his involvement in the judiciary affect his poetic subjects and their artistic structure? To achieve this goal, the descriptive analytical method was followed.
