Abstract

This study aims to examine the poetics of reduction in the very short short story collection Hypatia by Maryam Baghbigh, focusing on its interaction with prose poetry techniques. The research adopts some mechanisms of the semiotic approach

, drawing on literary criticism to outline the developmental stages of this genre. It raises questions about how the very short short story dismantles traditional narrative structures and benefits from poetic devices of condensation and suggestion. The paper also discusses the concept of the “Aqsooda” as a hybrid form between narrative and poetry. It concludes by highlighting the sensitivity of this form and the challenges in mastering it due to its generic interweaving.
