Abstract

Folk medicine is a traditional healing practice. This study aims to explore individuals’ attitudes towards the use of traditional medicine in the city of Guelma and the factors  influencing these attitudes. A descriptive analytical method was applied, using a
sample of 120 individuals. The researchers designed a 20-item questionnaire to address the following questions: What are the attitudes of people in Guelma towards the use of traditional medicine? What factors contribute to individuals’ tendency to  use folk medicine? Are there statistically significant differences in individuals' tendencies to use folk medicine based on age and gender? The results indicate that  these therapeutic practices in Algerian society are favored due to their perceived effectiveness and the absence of side effects. Additionally, no statistically significant differences were found in the tendency to use traditional medicine based on age, although individuals' attitudes did vary depending on age.
