Aesthetic Imagery in the Diwan of Imam Shafi'i

Abstract

This research aims to study the aesthetics of the image in the Diwan of Imam al-Shafi'i, considering it one of the most prominent tools used by the poet in constructing  his poems, enriching his poetic experience, and creating a psychological atmosphere that impacts the recipient’s conscience. The image represents an important aspect of artistic composition, conveyed through various nuances. From this perspective, the article focuses on analyzing the different types of images, namely: sensory, visual, rhetorical, and suggestive images. What do we mean by image? How did it contribute  to enriching Imam al-Shafi’i’s poetry? What are the

main sources from which the poet drew his images in his poetry collection?
