Constructing the Characters of "The Martyrs Return This Week" Between the Novel and the Drama

Abstract

    This study falls within the framework of comparative literature, employing an intertextual analysis methodology. It analyzes the most significant differences in characterization between Al-Taher Watar’s novel "The Martyrs Return This Week" and Mohammed bin Qataf's theatrical adaptation of the same title. Through detailed character analysis of both texts, the study examines points of convergence and divergence, while also focusing on new characters developed in the play that are absent in the novel.
