Abstract

The Gundijani (-430 AH) authored a book criticizing the explanations of Ibn al-Sirafi (-368 AH) for some verses of Sebawayh (-180 AH). The book contained satirical introductions in the form of proverbs and poetic verses, characterized by a range of stylistic and rhetorical features that can be utilized in caricature, comedic theater, and contemporary cinema. This research aims to demonstrate how the dialectic of humor and seriousness contributed to the construction of the critical text by Gundijani, and examines the patterns derived from his satirical examples in the book. Additionally, this paper attempts to differentiate between what the author conveyed and what has been transmitted by subsequent writers.
