Courses of practice and theory in criticism of Algerian theatrical art
Abstract
This paper proposes to study the critical theorising and practice of Dr Abdullah Rekibi, one of Algeria’s literary critics in the post-independence era. Dr Rekibi gave a lot of attention to the dramatic art in Algeria, its different phases and the main critical issues dealt with in the dramatic text. His work may not amount to a well-defined critical theory, yet it is of great help in reading the future of what has been achieved in the field of dramatic art in Algeria, both towards a critical theory and in terms of practical criticism of dramatic production.
