Abstract

The Algerian novel has, for a significant period of time, been engaged in the construction of declarative as well as suggestive titles, and thus constituted an important dedication threshold.  It raises a lot of questions that determine the novel’s issue concerning the reasons for writing and thus the acceptance of the literary work. The dedication becomes then an introductory speech that reflects the novelist’s personality as well as his writing motives. In the present work, we will examine the dedication and title thresholds in four novels: Yassmina Salah’s Bahr Samt (A sea of silence), Mustafa Nettour’s Aam El Habl ( Year of the cord), Abdellah Hamadi’s Tafenst and finally Mourad Bokarzaza’s Chouroufat El kalam (Balconies talk).
