Abstract

History has often inspired Algerian novelists, especially the eventful, rich and memorable narratives of the liberation war. Yet, the perspective shifts overtime. If the novel of the seventies used history as a sacred reference to justify the then dominant ideological political views, that of the eighties and the nineties touched upon areas so far unexplored in an attempt to offer new readings to the said history—that could help unfold the origins of the black decade tragedies.
