Abstract

This article deals with the critical attitude of Ibn Tabatiba El-Alawi which straddles the two cultures, that of reason and that of received tradition, of the 3rd Century of the Hegira. He tried through his work to identify multiple criteria for poetry, from a qualitative point of view and its relationship to other arts. It aimed to guide poets and teach them to write better, and this by evoking several essential problems of criticism, such as the culture of the poet and the relationship between culture and poetic art, as well as the various phases of construction. poetic and the interpretation of the poetic product, and the relationship between the meaning and the term as well as the unity of the poem and poetic plagiarism etc. Ibn Tabatiba leaned forward, adopting the attitude of a teacher who wanted to take the poet by the hand to teach him useful things in the art of poetry. The article deals with these aspects in order to show that this attitude has led to some contradictions that the critic has not succeeded in resolving both at the theoretical and practical level.
