Abstract

Satire is for the scholar a concept which has much to do with humour, sarcasm, and comedy, and is an artistic means of reproducing reality. The satirical writer alters the proportions of the elements contained in his duplicated picture, like scaling down large objects or enlarging small ones, to help his audience see the common world differently in an attempt of consolidating the socially accepted values and discrediting the unusual and unacceptable ones. The aim of the present study is to consider the works of some Syrian satirical novelists like Abd Alsalim Alojaily, Hassib Kialy, Zakaria Tamer and Khateeb Badla. The hope is that the results we came to could be said characteristic to Syrian satirical literature.
