Abstract
The present study investigates the critical thinking of Hazim Al- Qartajenni's (684 A.H.) and the extent to which it matches his poetry using the precepts gathered in his famous book on criticism: "Menhaaj Al- Bulagha' wa Siraaj Al- 'udabbaa' ". Such preceps fall into three categories:
- Firstly, meanings and how to reach them.
- Secondly, structures and their appropriateness.
- Thirdly, style, being acceptable to people; the forms and types of poetry, its reasons and aims, the serious and the humorous, the true and the untrue, the differences between poetry and the art of persuasion. So, was the poet Hazim Al- Qartajenni, in his poetic creations, committed to the critical framework that he presented in his book, with especial regard meanings and structures?
