Literary reception and transformations in the course of Arab novel criticism
Abstract
Contemporary Arab criticism has undergone considerable evolution through borrowings and influences from Western criticism. However, this poses more difficulties at the level of literary practice, particularly in the field of novel criticism, given that the Arabic novel is distinguished from the Western novel by its linguistic, stylistic and cultural particularities, hence the requires a reflection on a romantic theory specific to the Arabic novel. This article attempts in this context to outline the contours of the state of Arab novelistic criticism under the influence of Western criticism.
