Abstract

The present article raises the issue of the unexpected and the dissipative narrative structures that make the contemporary suspense novel. The latter is approached through the use of the chaos theory and the information theory, more particularly, through the use of the INTROPY concept which is basic in both theories. Various concepts emerge out of the INTROPY concept and allow us to approach the novel that we chose: "Sakarat Najma" by the Algerian novelist Amal Bouchareb. The fictional work relies mainly and intensively on information; henceforth, the research focuses on the elements of surprise, confusion and unexpectedness of the characters of the novel, to illustrate the creative and aesthetic production utilized solely by the writer, who created a different suspense novel.
