Abstract

In this article, we focused on the mechanisms of Deletion and Substitution as mechanisms of textual cohesion, identified as an analytical standard, which gained great importance in achieving cohesion and consistency within the text of the poem “Andalusia” by Ahmed Shawki. Since focus is placed on what is related to the text itself, consistency will combine with its grammatical relationships to understand the text. This cannot be realized only through means and tools that work together to relate the discourse to one another, especially when we have seen the poet's ability to innovate and create new ideas and meanings, without resorting to repetition. In this way, deletion and substitution would have filled the gaps in the text by making it coherent from its beginning to its end.
