Satirical folk songs in Algerian society

Abstract

 Folksongs are parts of a community’s culture that may enhance or destroy its social foundations. In the old Arab tradition, folksongs were used to defend personal and social standards and adopted by women to reform some aspects of feminine misbehaviour that was characterized as antisocial and anti-traditional modes of conduct by the community.
