The poetics of paradox according to Abu Tammam

Abstract

Abou Tammam’s poetry – on the whole is about breaking the inherited stereotype notion that was inherited by poets from their ancestors. This trend of poetry deviated sometimes from its nature and was so strange mysterious and paradoxical for both ancient and modern poets and critics. Nonetheless, the poet was indifferent and careless to these objections, paving his own poetic trend with faith and commitment

       Interestingly, the poet ̎Abou Tammam” employed the technical  ̎paradox ̎ that turns poetry from its emotional level of feelings, which links the poet with his own creativity, into an opposite level of an inventive process that transforms the creativity process  by means of disguising, misleading, opposite or interconnected figurative and playing with words so as to activate all the mental abilities of the receiver who would appreciate the pleasure of discovery and the delight of manifestation.
