Abstract

This research deals with the issue of reforming the Arabic language curricula in secondary education, and focuses on what has become known as the competency approach and the change that accompanied it in the programmed material and in the way it is taught, by looking at one of the most important areas of prescribed linguistic activities, which is known as the field of mastering learner resources. The range of target situations. This issue was raised to answer: How appropriate are the demands of these situations to the learner’s abilities? What can these demands make for his language (oral and written)? Finally, how can language teaching be functional and respond to the learners’ abilities first and to the educational goals second?
