Résumé

This paper examines the literary dimension of the Association of Algerian Muslim Ulama, a significant yet often overlooked facet of the organization. The Association strategically utilized literature in its reformist advocacy, actively encouraging writers to contribute their sophisticated creative works to its publications. Significantly, many of the Association’s members were themselves accomplished literary figures, excelling in poetry, essay writing, and public speaking.

To illustrate this dynamic, this study focuses on Sheikh Tayeb El Okbi, a founding member who exemplified these multifaceted talents. He was a reformist preacher, a scholar of Islamic jurisprudence, a compelling orator, and a prolific journalist—a rare combination of attributes that highlights his intellectual genius.
